Anglong Tamey village goes 100% renewable

On June 20, 2005 the Anlong Tamey Community Energy Cooperative located in Banan District of Battambang province was officially opened by the Vice Governor of Battambang Province, Mr. Sieng Sothong.

Ms. Donica Pottie, Deputy Secretary of State for MIME, HE. Sat Samy, provincial officials and other invited guests.
The project is a joint undertaking of the Anglong Tamey Community Energy Cooperative, and SME Cambodia.Project funding support was provided by The Canada Fund and US-AID through The Asia Foundation.
SME Cambodia introduced biomass gasification technology to Cambodia, provided tree farm and nursery demonstration training, project supervision and system staff training. The Community Energy Cooperative members provided all construction labor and tools and collected and treated power poles for the distribution system. Technical supervision, institutional development and business management support was provided by SME Cambodia. The CEC project is a prototype that SME Cambodia hops to replicate in other villages throughout rural Cambodia.
